If an h1b employer has no client work and is concerned to keep you unpaid on their bench to avoid DOL payroll issues, how do you convince them to keep your H1B visa active so that you can continue to stay in US and look for an new project or a new job?
I wanted to open up the discussion and compile legitimate suggestions that would be useful for both employees and their H1B employers to consider in these uncertain economic times.
1) Leave US immediately on vacation, apply and attend interviews from home country, and return to US after client confirmation.
2) Request personal unpaid leave of absence, continue to stay in US, and continue job search.
3) Get terminated, and receive a free airline ticket and return to home country, and apply for new h1b visa in next year's quota.
