Hi all

I am eligible to citizenship.

1. I live in Pittsburgh area, is that application need to be sent to Pittsburgh office? is application processed by local ? or is that application sent to VSC and then trasfer to Pittsburgh office? where I should check for processing times for my area?

2. My child born in India. What is the best plan to apply citizenship for her?
(a)does she needs separate application?
(b) just only apply for parents and then she automatically becomes citizen?
what are my options?

3. In last 6years, I have 3 dmv tickets(only speeding) + 2 parking ticket. is that ok?
(a) do I need to metion about parking tickets too?
(b) I don't have any record of 1 dmv ticket which happended long time back in MN. how do I get the info on that? do I need to have complete record of that to be mentioned on application?
(c) I don't have any record of 1 parking ticket which happened long time back in different state. How do I get the info on that? do I need to have complete record of that to be mentioned on application?

Thanks a lot.

  1. You send it to the appropriate service center (Texas, Vermont, etc). This must be in the instructions or the guide somewhere, I don't remember thinking very hard about it (by the way, you have read the instructions and the Guide to Naturalization, haven't you - it is the essential first step in the N-400 process)
  2. If your child is your legitimate child, is under 18, has a green card and lives with you, she will automagically become a US citizen when you do. If not all the conditions are met when you get your citizenship, she'll become a citizen at some later time when all the conditions are met (and, if her 18th birthday rolls around before they are met, then she'd have to fill in an N-400).
  3. As far as I know, parking tickets don't count. You do not need to include any documentation about tickets that do not involve alcohol and are under $500 with your application. Many folks (but not all) believe that you should list moving violations under the "Have you ever been ...cited..." question. If you do that, you should go to the interview with some proof that you are square with the law. As far as I know, there is no hard and fast rule that says "X tickets and your 'moral character' doesn't meet the grade". If there is, 3 tickets over five years would be well under that limit.

Good luck
