i seriously need help on this one. i applied for a change of status from B2 to F1 2 months back in august. Now, ive decided that i would like to further my studies in my home country and maybe later on proceed in finding careers in the US
how can i cancel my pending I539 application ? and is there any danger or problem in cancelling it ? it does not affect my current B2 visa does it ?
and if i leave US without cancelling, what happens to my application ? hope someone replies to this post cause i didn't get any replies on my last thread

There may be 2 choices for you:

1. write a letter advising the INS(USCIS) to withdraw the I-539,or
2. surrender your I-94 when you leave the US.

You will be safe either way. But personally, I would prefer the first AND the second as well.

When you leave the US, it will automatically be construed by the INS that you have abandoned your I-539.

However, just to make sure that this does not come around in the future to "bite you", better write the letter to the INS.

Even better to consult an Attorney.

PS:above are my personal opinions only and dont take them as legal advice.
