Greetings all,
I'm getting ready to send my citizenship application and I have quick question for all you well-informed folks:
Back in 1992 I was arrested and changed with public intoxication and trespassing. I plead ed guilty, paid 2 $70 fines (one per charge) and was released. As I've been through this when I applied for my greencard, I am pretty certain that I don't have to worry much about this regretful incident negatively affecting my citizenship application (However, you are welcome to comment on this too).
As I complete the application, I see the following questions in the form:
"16. Have you EVER been arrested, cited, or detained by any law enforcement officer (including INS and military officers) for any reason?" I know I have to answer "Yes" here.
"17. Have you EVER been charged with committing any crime or offense?" Again, "Yes" here.
"18. Have you EVER been convicted of a crime or offense?"
This last question is the one I'm not sure about. Given that I pleaded guilty and paid the fines, does that mean I was "convicted"? Thanks for your opinions.
