How soon does one get a Travel Document?

I received my asylum notification in March 2003 and I immediately applied for a Travel document. When the notice of receipt of my application came, it said that the Travel Document would be issued in 969 to 990 days (almost 3 years!!!). Last week I checked the application status online and it said that the Travel Document would be issued in 325 to 350 days (almost a year).

My question is, what should I do if I need to travel out of the country? I found a job that requires me to travel abroad. If I am not able to travel abroad, I will lose the job. What should I do? Will it help to go to Nebraska?

call INS

you can call INS to tell them your needs. They may speed up your case.

I got mine within a week after i call and I got same note as yours said 969 days to 999 days (Thanks God their database didn't set up the days in 4 digit).
