How Soon 7th year Extension can be filed

Hello Members,
My 140/485 was filled using Sub-Labor in April05.My current H1 is still valid till Jan07.Can somebody tell me how soon can I file the extension for 7th year.Eventhough I have an EAD,I do not intend to use it.I want to be safe and wanted to extend the H1 ASAP.
Please Advise.
