How should we deal with the conflicting instructions on I-485 and FP notices ?

Experts,

I received both the I-485 receipt notice and the FP Notice with somewhat conflicting instructions.

The FP notice had an appointment for Sep 15, which we went to already.
While the I-485 receipt notice says to call to schedule an appointment, so I called and scheduled an appointment in October (after we went to the appointment in the FP notice).

1. Since I went to the first appointment, should I go to the second also, or should I try to cancel the second, or what ?

2. Also, I would appreciate any comments regarding how to handle the confusion that comes from the fact that they sent the FP appointment before I call, and, at the same time, on the I-485 they ask to call. is this just a change in the USCIS not being implemented in a coherent way, and if yes, how should we deal with it ? is there any information out there about this ?

Kindest regards.

Cancel the 2nd one Oct.2005. USCIS is making change for FP procedure and they will fix this soon. I got my I-485 RN and called USCIS ASC to get FP code 3 done 9/10/2005. After that, I got ASC letter asking me to do FP code 3 on 9/15/2005 -- guess what? ASC refuse to do it again because I did it 5 days ago in another ASC site and results is in the same system. Good luck .
