How often do the dates regress and do they make up?

Unlike a lot of you, I do not have good news for the LA office. Now just when I am ready to file, I am so disappointed to see that the LA dates have actually regressed.
This is deja vu. It happened to me during the I-485 processing after my labor cert when it regressed several time. And now I find LA DO has moved back from April to January!

How often do the dates regress like this? Have they known to recover the lost time?

Orlando moved backwards from 10/11/02 to 9/21/02 in September after a previous move from 1/24/03 to 10/11/02 in August.

I have seen Orlando dates go nowhere in the past 9 months.
Dec. 2003 - 7/18/02
March 2004 - 8/3/02
April 2004 - 10/18/02
May 2004 - 1/11/03
June 2004 - 1/24/03
July 2004 - 1/24/03
August 2004 - 10/11/02
Sep. 2004 - 9/21/02

Only plausible explanation I have got is if USCIS finds even 1 or 2 cases with dates prior than the current processing dates, they roll back the dates. How often this happens, I am not sure, but from my experience in Orlando it seems unfortunately quite common.

Thanks, your response makes me wonder whether the date even reflects reality. In Orlando case, are you hearing cases where people who have applied after the published date and whose cases are getting processed?

No I haven't found much participation from Orlando folks on this board. Occasionally, someone from other parts of Florida would join in briefly. I think these dates are like comparing apples and oranges between the different DO's.

Based on the responses that I have read on the other threads, it can be when:
People complete their oath ceremony;
DO's send the oath letters;
People actually interview; or
DO's send the interview letters;

I happen to believe that different DO's report the dates differently. Some are good at reporting the dates and some DO's just report these dates just once in a while.

LA DO dates progressed this time

CIS is at it again! Last month they pushed the LA date from April 2004 back to Jan 2004. I am checking now and it has progressed to June 2004. Do not know what to believe! As some of you have pointed out, the dates do not seem to have too much meaning because even if a few cases are old, the dates regress. Hopefully all this is for real and they are truly working on June 2004 cases.
Like all of you, keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for the best.
