hi,
I got my interview letter, very excited. Finally!!!!
But also worried. I saw many people can get their interview letter, all repaired. and the interview got canceled.
I am going to buy 2 plane tickets, rent a car, get off from work for this. Going to cost a lot of time and money. so I am very afraid my interview can get canceled at the last minutes. So I am wondering, anyone had the experience with interview get canceled? How much ahead of the time they usually tell you that your interview is canceled? :(

thank you very much,

Hi Cindy,

I wouldnt know how much time before hand one's interview can get cancelled (reason due to a case itself). But my interview that was scheduled for Jan 2nd 2007 got cancelled at about 3 pm the business day before the interview. But remember, this was due to the fact that all federal offices were closed (In honor of death of a former President). So this was NOT planned.

In the first place, I dont know why an interview could get rescheduled. Even if it does, I am pretty sure USCIS will give you a few weeks notice at least. Logically, they send you a notice for an interview with at least 4 weeks of notice (as per my observation), so I am thinking if the interview will be cancelled, on planning, they should give you sufficient time. :)

Hope your does not get cancelled or rescheduled. :)

Good Luck!

mine was not canceled but as you know a lot of people still ended up going on their appointed date and time and were called in. I think none of the applicants actually got a written notice of a cancellation only a e-mail notice.

Don't be concerned about cancellation...

Cindy, :)

My advise to all people is the same when it comes to interview cancellation: Just show up as if you never got an email from USCIS. I suspect that there are people who just generate cancellation emails to hundreds of people who received interview letters in the mail. :p

For all people who I have advise to go and ignore the email, all of them were approved and we called in at the time they were suppose to be there. So, unless you get a written cancellation, just ignore the email cancellation and attend the interview, the worst that can happen to you, is for Imm Office to refuse to interview you, but they will have to stamp your letter and let you know when the next interview will be or promise to send you something in the mail...

As far as buying tickets and renting car, are these for the interview? If not, then please hold your horses and don't go wild on spending, because this US govt is run by inept people who care less about you, but more about special interests and protecting you from their own imaginary terror. Lastly, don't jinx yourself about someone cancelling your interview, so be careful what you wish for...

yeh...all the rent a car, buying tickets are for the interview....I wish I dont' have to. I wanted to keep my residency with my family but currently me and my husband dont' live in that State. So it will be a far trip for us for the interview. My interview is in the end of March, when you guys think it will be "save" for me to book all these? I know it is a tricky question. Just curious, if this situation happen to you, when will you start to plan to trip.?

Agree

Cindy,

I agree with NeShawn's view, buy within a week of travel. Moreover, if I were you, will look for airline bargains, especially for last minutes deals. www.smartertravel.com tend to have great deals, especially those last minutes deals. If one of the airlines is going where you are scheduled to interview, then find the cheapest.. :) Moreover, for car rentals, find discount coupons with some of your credit card or airline companies. For example, I recently rented a car, and got a 35% discount for a decent car, because of a coupon from united airlines. :D

Sorry you have to spend so much, but I hope it all works out for you. :p

:p thank you
