How much time Security Clearance cant take?

Hello,
I was in US on F1 visa for last 3 years and then I graduated and got job. I got H1 and then worked for 6 months and came to Ottawa, Canada for Visa Stamping. I appeared in invterview on March 7th 2005 and they asked me that they need some administration processing (Security Clearance). I am waiting for last 4 weeks and just curious how much time it can take?
Is there any thing I can do to get processing done fast? I mean to call someone to hire a lawyer? Anything?
I will really appreciate help if someone in the same boat as I am or if someone been though that.
Please guys.. any help or suggestions?

Hi all what you can do is wait and please tell me how long was it as I will have same issue when I go to my country for visa.
 
I am planning on going to Sri Lanka end of May. My H1 visa stamp expired in mid Jan 2005. I am on my 4th year of H1B now. I need to get a visa stamp when I am in Sri Lanka and was wondering what this security clearance thing is all about?

What are the documents we have to present at the interview for H1B visa?
a few: valid passport, I-797 approval form, application form, company employment letter, pay checks, evidence of taxes filed in US. What else?
