Once i get my US citizenship i am going to upgrade my I 130 of my spouse and minor child who are currently in india.

How long does it take for I 130 to get approved for my spouse and minor child based on my US citizenship. I think once I 130 gets approved, then it goes to National Visa Centre and from there it goes to consultate in Mumbai, India.

How long this whole procedure takes for them to arrive in US with immigrant visa.

Any ideas please.

depends on your luck man... for some it is done in 5 months while for others it takes 1 year... I think 10 - 12 month estimate should be good... Let's see what others have to say coz I have to do the same later.... I can feel your pain.

^I am in the same boat you guys are except that I will get married in August in Pakistan. I am pretty hopefull to get my oath date by then. Once I get back, I will file an I-130 for my wife.

Sonny123,

I think that your minor daughter became a US Citizen automatically when you became one. Perhaps, other can weigh and correct me if I'm wrong.

No, she first has to be a permanent resident. This would be the case if she is BORN to a US citizen. However, since she is already living and one of her parents gets naturalized, then she has to get a green card first before she can be a US citizen.

You can also do the K3 visa route for your spouse and minor child. It might be quicker than the IR1/CR1 Process. For k3/k4 process Just send I129F & required docs with a copy of I-130 reciept notice for both and naturalization certicate.

If your I-129F gets approved in three months then your wife & child could be here approx another 3 months (remember k3 visa interview will be in the country you got married). But they will have to apply for adjustment of status (I485 etc) after coming to usa which generally take 6 months.

If you follow I130 process (IR1/CR1 process) and dont file 129F (k3), then your wife & child come to usa with gc but the process could be generally 5-6 months longer to come to usa.

Looking at the processing times on the USCIS website, it is taking well over 6 months to process an I-129F.
