Filing for the first step in CP process is usually automatic, if you have opted for CP in I-140 and have an attorney on file. You will then get the request to pay the bill. If you don't pay then you will not get Packet 3. So you can delay paying the bill. Other thing you can do is pay the bill. NVC will then send packet 3 to you. You can also delay sending the completed Packet 3 to NVC.
I want to wait for 1 yr, by that time I will get my Canadia citizenship.
It takes about 5 to 7 months to get the CP interview after I-140 approval. You may time sending packet 3 to also get the Canadian citizenship. An individual also gets 6 months to get enter US after a successful interview.
So even if you start CP immediately after I-140 approval today, you will get about a year to come to US.
Is it Ok to wait this long.
