How much more time one might have to wait for I-485 approval after the service center's I-485 processing dates become current?

After getting I-1485 approval how much time before getting the actual physical Green Card?

After I-485 approval does the passport needs to get stamped? Is it must? Or just having a Green Card is enough? What's the difference?

Experts please suggest....

Thanks

'Of all ur questions. I have one straight answer with out consulting astrology.
Once the i-485 is approved, get an infopass appointment w/ a local ins office and bring a print out of the on-line status and receipt number for i-485 and request the officer to stamp ur passport.
Explain to them that, u temporarily lost ur travel privileges since ur AP/H1B visa is nullified when the i-485 was approved.

Getting passport stamped will provide u with immediate attestation to ur legal status and travel utility.

The rest of the answers will be speculative and i dont trade on specualtion.

Thanks krocker.

But from what I understand I would need infopass appointment to get the passport stamped only if I plan to travel out of US pretty soon after getting I-485 approved.

What i am confused about is the difference between getting immigrant stamp on passport and getting an actual physical green card? Do both of these have to be there?? When does one get a physical GC insteadimmigrant stamp and vice versa?

One of my major concerns right now is to know - how much more time one might have to wait for I-485 approval after the service center's I-485 processing dates become current?

The reason why I am getting worried is beacuse my priority date became current almost 2 months back and the processing dates of I-485 at the VSC are also current for my I-485 - but I have'nt seen any LUDs etc. happening on my I-485 since past 2 months. I will greatly appreciate if someone can throw some light on this as to what might be happening with my case.

Thanks

Have you checked if your case is stuck in Name Check, as it happens to mine. My PD has passed, too. I'm still waiting...

Hi, ynot

How do you know your case is stuck in the name check?

Thanks

From what I understand there is not definite way to know whether or not the case is tuck in name check.

But what I wan't to know is that at what stage does name check occurs - does it happens at the very last stage just before I-485 is about to get approved.

So if it does happend at the very last stage than that would mean that firstly one has to wait for their priority date to become current, secondly they have to wait for their service center's processing dates to become current and lastly once all dates are current they would have to again wait for the name-check..................

How to Expedite my I-485?

Hello all,
Thanks you all for addressing I-485 issues. I am in the same boat as I filed my I-485 after marrying to US Citizen, and now it has way passed the processing date at the Seattle Loca office. It's been almost 2 years since I filed I-485, and everytime I contact Seattle local office, they only briefly mentioned in one line - "pending background check".

Is this related to stuck in Name Check that you guys mentioned above?
I would really like any advise on where to contact and find out approximately how long I-485 could take for someone marrying to US Citizen.

Your help is appreciated
-Lawrence

Supposedly, NC will be initialized once you file your I-485 and is one of the things that have to be complete before your case is assigned to an office for process. So, yes, you have to wait for your PD becoming current for the NC if you haven't submit I-485. If you've already filed I-485 before the retrogression, the NC has already begun and will take its course. However, I recall seeing some words like "for those who filed I-485 before retrogression and PD has yet to become current, all security checking will be suspend until PD current. This will help USCIS prioritize their work". I don't know if this hold true for FBI, who conducts the NC and is another federal agency.
