How much more time on H1B

Hello attorneys and friends!

I entered the country in March 2001 on an H1B (which was issued in October 2000).
I changed status to H4 in March 2002.
I moved to H1B in October 2004.

1. How much more time do I have on the H1B?

2. How much more time do I have to start the GC processing in order to apply for H1B extension?

3. Is there a way of knowing if my new H1B issued in October is part of the old cap (of 2000) or the new one (of 2004)?

Appreciate your advice and responses.

Thanks a lot,
Cheers,
abs

I have a similar situation. Our university international office told me that the 6 year limit apply to H1 and H4 total, If you do not have a GC pending, you'd have to leave the country for 1 year and reenter to start another 6 years. So, act quickly.
