How much help does a letter from Senator or congressman on NIW case?

For NIW case, is any help with a reference letter from Senator or congressman?

I know some of my friends wrote a letter to the senator and succefully got the recommendation. Their cases have been approved. But I do not know maybe they already have a case and the recommendation from the senator did not help much. After all, recommendations should be from the experts in the field.

Any comments?

Thanks

Says who? An expert testimony is required to demonstrate that *you* are an expert in your field. I think that the senator would be a good "icing on the cake" to prove national scope. If I was a reviewer, I would think twice about rejecting the national scope arm of a petition that was endorsed by a Senator...especially if that recommendation fulfilled a legal requirement for proving NIW.

I believe I read somewhere that the USCIS takes into consideration the letter from Senator if the senator has technical expertise to evaluate your credential. For example a senator with a background in arts/business may not be able to evaluate the credential of a somebody say in Biological science.
