How much gap allowed between date of B2 VISA issue and date of travel ?

Hi,
I would like to know if there is a rule regarding the gap (in terms of days/months) between when the B2 visitor Visa was issued (issued for 10 years) and when the first travel date actually happens.
I heard from somewhere that parents have to travel within 6 months of the date of Visa Issue (even if the Visa was issued for 10 years).
