Does anyone know what other security checks there are besides the fingerprinting and fbi check? Fiance and I went to local office to see what the heck the hold up is on his oath ceremony, it's been almost 4 years now, and they told us security checks but wouldnt say which one. fbi name check cleared in '04. At our wits end right now.!

Did your Fiance get the interview yet? If he did you should think about 1447b lawsuit. It has been 4 years and it is a extensive delay. If he did not get his interview yet, the situation is a little bit tricky. You should prove your have exhausted all your adminstative means before you can file a WOM lawsuit. MazzyStar said:thnks alot. yes fiance had interview back in aug 03 so its been qutie a while. we're going to go through our senetor one more time and if nothing happens than a lawsuit seems to be the only option.
There are three security checks for the N-400
1) FBI Name Check
2) IBIS Check
3) FBI Fingerprinting
Are you positive your name check has cleared? I know someone who has been waiting for 2 years for the oath letter but their name check is still pending and they are preparing to file their lawsuit.
Just to be on the safe side, I would take an infopass and find out what the problem is. The IBIS check is an intra-border security check possibly cross-listing your name on other foreign security agencies to make sure that you are not wanted or have committed a crime elsewhere.
Have you renewed your GC recently? Both IBIS and FBI Fingerprinting need to be complete before issuing a new GC, however the name check is only for the N-400.

Yes positive. Received letter from congressman stating that name check cleared on september 17 2004 and that uscis was notified per fbi email. I have the letter, and when we scheduled an info pass appoitment to ask what the hold up was the officer stated securtity checks. I then showed her the letter and she said oh well there are other security checks. I then asked about the expired fingerprints and she stated that if uscis hasnt sent a letter to redo the prints then they dont need it. So that only leaves the ibis, and I have read that that doesn't take long at all. Green card is still valid so no need to renew. Would they issue another name check if its already been cleared? USCIS is soo frustrating! If the senators office does not help at all in the next few weeks than we will be forced to go the route of lawsuit.
