How many days is it taking for EAD approvals?

My EAD is expiring on May 15th. When should a person file for EAD renewal ? And if some one could please guide what steps to be taken to renew EAD as I would be doing it myself and my first EAD was applied by my lawyer. Thanks!

As per Murthy, EAD renewal should be sent 5-6 months in advance due to longer processing time and to be on safe side if ur working on EAD.

Here are the documents you need for renewal:

1) 2 ADIT style photos
2) Copy of ur current EAD
3) I-765 application form (download from INS website)
4) Jacket of ur current EAD ( letter which came with EAD)
5) INS fees $80 (check out the fees in INS website, it has chgd from $120 to $80)

if not the jacket, definitely a copy of your current ead is needed. That's waht my lawyer asked me when I applied for renewal.

thats my suggestion, so for any reason (except for an RFE) you don't receive an aproval by then you can get an interim EAD from local INS office and keep working.
I have seen aprovals coming in about a month, mine took month and 4 days applied on jan17 ND aproved on 2/21 online msg.
I applied my self and sent whats mentioned above and I94 & 485 receipt copies.
The form mentions whats to be sent.

Yes, it will expedite your EAD processing. EAD jacket contains all neccessary information like A#, EAC# and address.

The category is C9 correct? Do we need to send I485 receipt notice for the EAD renewal??
