How long to wait for GC after name check is clean

Anyone in PA or other states can tell me how long you will wait to receive the welcome letter after your name check is clean. Of cause, the condition is that you previously stucked in name check when you had successful interview.

After my inteviewed in Dec 2006, I have been waiting for a while after Infopass told me that CIS office received my name check results in Feb 07. I sent a letter to the officer who interviewed me. She didn't answer me. I called 1800 number, they response that I need wait for 4 more months to ask back. I am not sure if at this time, is it safe for me to quit my H1B and go to school. I am not eligible to apply F-1. my i-130 is approved on the day of interview. Is it dangerous for me to quit H1B now? Will any chance they will deny my i-485 after final review?

Angelene, you do not need to transfer from H-1B to F-1 visa if you have a GC application pending, you just need proof of legal status in the U.S. to enroll in any school that has accepted you. Did you file Form I-1765 and receive EAD? If not, I strongly suggest you file now. It takes 75-90 days to receive EAD in hand and that serves as proof of legal status. Also, it allows you to work to help support yourself while in school, if need be.

In the meantime, have you tried to talk to your school to see if they let you register using AP as proof of legal status? That is, of course, if you filed Form I-131 yet. If not, again I suggest you file soon.

thanks, I have EDA. I just wonder any chance my 485 will be denied even i have approved 130 and interview.
