How long to get your TN offer

Is there anyone in US now job hunting for TN offer? How do you feel the market? Does the employer refuse TN applicant directly? I mean you even can't get a phone interview?

I have been looking for job for a few months in California. My resume has local phone and local address. I am CPA with 8 years Canadian experience , but so far I got nothing. I did get a couple of HR phone calls and they planned on-site interview over the phone due to my background matches the job, but later they emailed to cancel the interview as they discussed and decided not to sponsor TN. This situation had happened several times.

My question is: does US company still give employment opportunity to TNer? Is it harder now due to NAFTA re-negotiation?

I am really frustrated now as I don't know it's due to my background or TN status. Can anyone share their job hunting experience in US?

It is all about skills in demand. If you have skills that are in demand and employers are having a hard time finding US Citizens to fill the job vacancy they will search for international candidates and bring them in USA on TN or H1B.
Three years found my job quickly. They started me on TN, now I am on H1B. I believe it is because my skills are in demand.
My employer has over 5000 employees and probably less than 100 on TN, H1B, L1, L2, OPT, etc.
I am engineer working in the electronics engineering field, with a 4 year engineering degree from Canada.
I know nothing about CPA field, but if a person has 8 years experience since their degree the person is usually a prime candidate for any role. (prime of their career) .
Yes, there is uncertainty about TN status since the NAFTA re-negotiation. But my personal opinion is that the media is making a big of it. If and when NAFTA is re-negotiated there will be some provision for hiring professionals in the US, like the current TN status.

typo in above, should say three years ago, i found my job quickly. applied in July 2015, interview in Aug 2015 and TN granted in Sept 2015.

The USA has record-low unemployment and employers are more desperate than ever to get skilled employees.

Employers don't care about NAFTA renegotiation and they have no clue the difference between different foreigner work visa types. Regardless, at this time, they're more willing than ever to consider non-american employees.

If you think you're facing troubles because you intend to work on a TN visa, then simply don't bring it up until you're asked. If you're asked, explain that all you need is a properly worded offer letter, and no other type of sponsorship.
