How long to get receipt notice these days?

INS is sleeping like a baby, give it another week! Usually they take between 2 - 6 weeks! At least that is what my lawyer said, when asking me to shup up and go away, while I was pestering her for my notice date/WAC #.
Besides you don't need to worry! You are going to get your GC before your EAD comes through!

I mailed on 22Jan for EAD & AP
and got the receipts on Jan29th at my home.
The INS site records the date as Jan 24th for both the documents.

My own experience is that once an application is in the mail room,
it takes 2-3 days until the check is cashed and 7-10 additional
days for the receipt to arrive.
However, you need to know the delivery delays. I once sent them
a certified mail and it took 8 days for USPS to get it to
Laguna Niguel.
So track your package and find the date of arrival. If more than
a week or two passed from this date and the check was not cashed, you should panic somewhat (Although I have no idea
what to do at this point).

EAD renewal

I got my check cleared in 2 days and my receipt came in 5 days after I had sent EAD renewal application. I was even surprised how quick were these guys in collecting our money and issuing receipts (they might have been really very hungry...)... If you don't hear from them in the next week or so, I think you should start tracking your documents...

The express mail carrying my EAD renewal application got to INS office on Dec 6th. The Recipt date for the renewal was Dec 31, 2002(WOw last day of teh year???) and notice date was Jan 2 , 2003....
Panicking is OK but INS just deals in it's own way... Take it easy dude...u will be there like everyone of us.

My EAD and AP applications were sent on Jan 16th by the lawer, but till date they have not received any receipt. I feel reluctant to perster them every week asking for what is the WAC. I don't know what to do. When I applied on my own last time, I got the receipts in two days, this time there is a delay inspite of applying thru an attorney. Waiting is becoming unearable now a days. Whether attorneys have any mechanism to check the fate of those applications or will they ask us to send money for a fresh application. I am getting too much paranoid.
