how long to get grey plastic

Hi,
MAybe this question is not appropriate. How long does it take to get the actual green card. It has been over six months since i got approval (after a looooooooong delay and agonizing wait ofcourse) and stamped on passport. MAybe it does not matter but just trying to make sure that nothing is prob. Thanks.

Normally one gets plastic within a months time but local INS office ask us to wait up to a year or so. You may want to visit local INS office and ask the status after completing 8 months as GC stamping (I-551) is valid only for a year. All the best.
