how long should I wait after naturalization before marrying overseas? (with the intention of bringing my bride/wife to the US after that) She has been married before(divorced 6 years) and have a 7-year-old daughter under her sole custody.

Don't wait... fill out I 130 rite away... I need to do the same too but waiting for citizenship to be done as of now.
What made you think you need to wait to marry after naturalization? Did you marry and sponsor some one before and now are divorced too? Is that why you are afraid of sponsoring some one again and falling in to the radar of USCIS for possible fraud?

i have a few questions in regards to us citizenship and marriage as well...
what difference does it make if you apply for your spouse while you are a us resident and us citizen...
second but most important..once i get my citizenship..do i have to apply for my spouse here in the US or can i also apply at the US embassy in my home country?

you cannot apply in the US embassy anymore except for few countries... if you apply while you are resident, it will just take too long; however, your priority will be changed automatically once you become a citizen.
