how long out of the US

After receiving GC (sometime in another 2-3 years ahead since in depending on TSC) for how long can you be out of the US? Coming every year for couple of months will be enough to keep GC? Will I have to stay for at least 180 days in total in the US or coming often (2-3 times/year for month or so every time) will be ok?

regards!

Unfortunately, coming back to the US for a couple of months every year in an effort to keep your green card will not work. For the huge majority of the cases, you are required to live in the US in order to maintain your permanent residency.

Generally, a green card holder can be out of the country for up to 6 months without any problems. However, that also does not mean that you can come back for a short visit every 6 months and leave again after that. If BCIS suspects that you have abandoned your residency in the US, they could very well revoke your green card.
