Hi All

Does any body know how long it takes to get interview letter once FP and background check is cleared. I completed my FP last month, I took an Info Pass appointment yesterday and IO told me that my FP and Background check is cleared, you should get the interview letter soon

I have the below questions

1. How long it will take to receive the interview letter once all the checks (FP, Background) are completed. Just a ball park figure.
2. Will I get interview letter from local DO office or Service Center.

Note: My DO is Boston. I looked at the boston thread I haven’t seen any interview dates with priority date after February

Thank you all in advance.

It generally takes between 2 and 3 months after your FP to get your IL (at most DOs). Of course there are exceptions - some DOs are really fast and people get through the whole process start to finish in 3 months or so and others like Washington DC take much much longer.

It is the service center that sends out the IL but they do it in coordination with the DO (I guess the DO informs them about availability of interview slots). If your background checks (including name check) are really complete then you just have to wait for them to assign you an interview slot. The only way to get a somewhat reliable indication on how long your wait might be is to monitor the thread for your DO to see when people who applied around the same time as you or slightly ahead of you got their ILs. I would say that I would let at least a few months pass before I get overly anxious (and you may be pleasantly surprised to get your IL in the meantime).

Good luck !

We are talking about two different things here.

1) Time after FP to complete all FBI checks
2) Time after all checks complete to get USCIS interview letter.

For the most part we only know (1) + (2) !!!!!

FP to Interview can take anything from 3 months (very fast these days) to 6-8 months (quite common) to over a year ("problem" cases).

However, if your IO says that your checks are complete, that means that your application is now back with USCIS from FBI and so I would imagine your interview letter will come in a matter of weeks, not months.

It will depend on the backlog of your particular office.

Or, if the IO didn't give you completely accurate information (or there was a mis-understanding) it could take much longer.

There is really no telling. However, the best way to get an estimate is to look at the "timeline" thread for your DO (Boston) and see what is happening to other applicants. Look at PD->Interview (i.e. ignore fingerprints). What "most" people get is what you can expect assuming there are no problems.

hi sleek,
I applied from boston end of april and still waiting for IL. Even my background checks were clear and IO said mine is in interview Q since may 29th.

I really didnt get much info from boston timeline thread as it didnt seem much active these days.

The trackers on the forum give good indication but it depends on how many people are reporting their timeline. ALso keep watching the "now processing" date on the uscis website for n400. The best thing is to just relax and wait till your PD is past that now processing date.
