how long it will be from FP to approval

guys, how long it takes from FP done to final approval, 1-2 months or could be much longer? and also, once approval, you can go and do stamp right away? stamps is the same as real card? thanks.
 
once u r approved

u can go for stamping the next day that u get the courtesy copy in mail

and once u get stamp in passport (I-551) it is as good as green card
for the duration of the stamp (which is normally 12 months)
if card does not come in mail then u have to renew before validity end
 
Number of days elapsed since FP does not have much bearing on ...

when the case will be adjudicated. The factors that do have a bearing are :
1) Your RD
2) Month of RD currently being adjudicated. Presently, they are mainly adjudicating May cases.
3) Whether your case has received all the background reports and is adjudication-ready.
4) Current speed of processing of AOS by CSC. Processing priorities can always change depending on CSC management decisions.

Hypothetically, a SEP RD case that is adjudication-ready today would probably have to wait for a couple more months before being adjudicated. Until then the case will lie on the adjudication-ready shelf for the month of September.
 
Iam not sure if I should worry that the AVM has not changed

FP 08/30/01 scheduled for 10/13/01
The AVM message has not changed till today 02/24/02 should I worry ...or be doing something? any suggestions ?

u should call iio

and inquire if ur case is adjudication ready or ur case has been assigned
 
call IIO to find out

If AVM said "999 days", as IIO if FP received and quality is good
if AVM said "FP received, pending review", ask IIO if background check report is received and case is "ready to be assigned"
if AVM said "FP result received, process resumed", ask IIO if case assigned to an officer
If no clear answer from IIO, fax inquire to INS if you are really anxious.

I guess most of April RD cases have been approved now. So if you are still waiting, it\'s better to find out what has held up your case. But be ware not to call/fax too many times. It may sound suspicious and case RFE.
 
AVM says

Your I485 Application to adjust to permanent residence status was received on April 11, 2001. Its taking between 965 to 999 days to process this kind of request. We will inform you as soon as the processing is complete.

The # I call up is (949) 831 8427 hope that is the same as the AVM that everybody is talking about here correct?
