How long it takes for US passport and getting OCI

Folks,

Few questions:

1. After Oath taking and if I apply for US passport, how long it takes?
2. After getting US passport, I am planning to apply for OCI in NY. How long that will take?
3. Will getting PIO card is faster than getting OCI?

The reason is: I am planning to take India Job. I will be coming for interview and Oath taking. Between the period I am USC and getting OCI or PIO, I am not sure whether I am eligible to work for Indian firm. Since during this period I will not be Indian citizen.

Lot of things are planned on this and I am looking forward to all your inputs.

Thank you

for $60 additional, you can expedite and receive the passport in one week.

2. After getting US passport, I am planning to apply for OCI in NY. How long that will take?
OCI may take upto 3 months.

3. Will getting PIO card is faster than getting OCI?
Yes, it should take about a week.

With PIO, you can work in India. If you are staying beyond 6 months, you need to register with FRRO/local police, which is not required for OCI

Lot of things are planned on this and I am looking forward to all your inputs.

Thank you

Will I be illegaly employed in India from taking USC till I get PIO card

Geec and Everyone,

Thanks for the reply.

I am planning to take a job in India and will be travelling back and forth for Interview and Oath. I will be still on payrolls of India firms.

Here is a hypothetical case:

I take Oath on July31st (Here I am USC)

I use the Expedited process to get Passport on Sep5th.

I get employment visa on September 6.

The above is the best case scenerio (few days delay will be there).

Keeping travelling to India part aside after getting USC:

1. I will be on the payrolls of an Indian firm as employee between July31st to September5th. I can take vacation during that time. But still I think I cannot be employed for an Indian firm during that period. Am I right?

2. Has anyone in the forum went through the above situation? How they overcame?

3. It is possible that some people may have overseen this. Did they hear from Indian Govt or someone about this violation?

Thank you

If you have a confirmed ticket to travel within 14 days, you can get the US passport in one day by going to regional passport office and then get your business visa the next day.
