How long it takes for FP to expire?

I wonder how long it takes for FP to expire, one year or 15 months?

Thanks for your help.

It used to be 15 months, but if you've done them recently, the USCIS is supposed to be storing them digitally so they can check them again > 15 months without requiring you to go in and get re-fingerprinted.

It seems to me that INS is trying to approve cases before their FP expires. Maybe I should send an inquiry to them saying "hey, my FP is going to expire, please have a look on my case". What is the chance of that?

If at all one sends this letter who should one fax it to.the address or Ph; if anyone has any idea

Is it 15 months from the date of fingerprinting,
or 15 months from the date INS receives the
fingerprints ot from the date they've cleared ?
My status says:
"
On May 13, 2003, the results of your fingerprint review for your I485 Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status were received, and processing has resumed on your case. We will mail you a notice if further action is needed, or when a decision is made.
"
Is that the date since the 15 months count ? Becuase if I
correctly remember, I did the fingerprints somewhere april...
