How long is our i797 good for?

I make a good salary and have tax returns going back five years to prove it. I have 175K in my investment accounts, and about 30K in cash in my US based bank account. I have good credit.

We live in Singapore. I applied for a K1 (I129) for my girlfriend a few years back. We received an i797 with an expiration date on it. We applied for the visa, went to the interview. Everything went well. After we arrived in California, we got her a SSN, and we got married in Auburn. It was awesome! We did not stay (long story), so we left the USA, and abandon the process before adjusting status.

Later we applied for a B2 visa, and a Canadian tourist visa so we could have a holiday in both Canada and the USA. While there we added her to my bank account. We had a great holiday! : )

Last fall, I applied for an IR1 (i130). We received our approved i797 in March. We have not gone online to apply for the visa yet. Again due to budget cuts, I did not get a transfer, stateside, though my employer. I have given up on them, so before long I will start searching for jobs in the USA. How long is the i797 good for? It has no expiration date. I am want to re-locate next spring. Will it the status go stale? How do I keep it on ice?
