Call customer service, or go to local office, they can tell you. It is better to know early so that we can track it. since it has a major role in approval process.

I have tried this before they simply told me to check on the web, when I told her I could not check on web she refered to the web and told me that status and said that it means my name check is not done.

You must be lucky for someone to take the trouble of seperately getting name check information and let you know about it.

Follow this steps and you will get an IO to talk to. The national customer service people are just useless. They say they do not have access to anything, and I dont know why they pick up the phone.

1) 1-800-375-5283
2) 1
3) 2
4) 6
5) 1
6) EAC/LIN # (Listen to the machine till the end)
7) 3
8) 4
9) Rep

How to find local USCIS office. And we need to take an appointment before going ?
Is itthe same where we go for fingerprinting ?

I had similar exp, the person spoke to said check the staus online thats the most latest info.
I will use your trick , please let me know about local office.

1) 1-800-375-5283
2) 1
3) 2
4) 6
5) 1
6) EAC/LIN # (Listen to the machine till the end).
After this point when I enter my lien number it goes to an automated reply which mentions the status on web. "Finer print revd on Aug 05 and continue with the process....." When I pressed 3 and 4 after this it said it is transferring to National Customer service Center(You said these people are useless so I didn't bother to wait 20-25 minutes on this)

Are the Reps providing details about Name Check Status , I thought Infopass the only way to go ?

My PD is Feb 2001 and 485 filing date was Aug 2004 so does it mean I can call and follow the process to get a status ????

Any Thoughts

Hi,
My dates are almost similar to yours, I just called last week, they opened enquiry on my case, I should here status from them with in 3 to 4 weeks. They did not provide any info. other than opening enquire.

As I have documented earlier, I had called these guys for enquiry and for investigation on my status way back in Oct 2004, they said the same thing " give us 3-4 wks to get back to you ". The did promptly but the letter stated that I should expect some kind of update from them in another 6 Months [ Which is like 4 months in now ] after the Security or Name Check is cleared.

Now i am wondering what is happening, that is reason i just wanted to get a feel of all the people waiting for this dreaded Name check thingy.

Thanks anyways - I guess waiting anymore is turning everyone insane.

When you take infopass, after you give your zip, it finds you the nearest local office for you. For us this is the same office for fingerprint, this is the only immigration office we have. But I am not sure about other places.
Please let me know if you still have questions.

If you have a lawyer, why dont you ask them to start an inquiry. I found out they act very differently based on who is calling. My lawyer always talks to the immigration officer over the phone. When ever they are responding to me, they will tell me the name of the officer and what she/he replied.
 
Thanks Baski555 for suggesting to go through the Lawyer.

The problem is my Lawyer is not responding to my emails and request and is just sitting on it, all they were interested is getting the Filing Fee promptly and some how have sent my documents as part of the filing process.
Now I am stuck with them as this being the last stage and all. I am not sure where to look out for, so I am kinda finding some peace of mind with replies in this forum.
