How long from approval to get actual EAD

I got this message from USCIS
"On November 17, 2005, after approving your application, we ordered you a new card. Your card will be mailed to you as soon as it is ready."
Anyone knows how long does it take to get actual card? I need to work ASAP. Can I go to work without actual card?

Thanks!

Typically no more than a week to get the card.
If you are starting a new job, there is a very very good chance that they would need to see your EAD before allowing you to work.
Just wait for a week and then take up the job.

According to I-9 regulations - you have 3 days to produce evidence of employment eligibility after you begin employment. Receipt notice for pending I-765 can serve as a bone fide evidence (for 90 days) - according to USCIS:

Don't create imaginary obstacles for yourself, people.
