How long does regular passport processing take?

I am just curious how long does regular passport processing take.
I think the processing time is some 6 weeks or something but is it really that long? I thought someone on this forum said it is lot sooner than that.

I know expedited can be fast
On doing some search I found information on expedited processing on this thread http://www.immigrationportal.com/showthread.php?t=137553
But I do not expect need to travel immediatedly after getting my CZ. So I was wondering about regular processing

The regular processing is 6 weeks, but it might take less. I got my passport in 4 weeks.

By regular processing, I got it in just 14 business days. Phillydude might have gotten it a bit late :-) but do not believe him. :D If you have lot of time before you apply for passport and you travel, take the beaten path of regular mail and do not waste your money on faster processing.

It really depends on how busy they are processing passports. For regular service it can be between 2 - 6 weeks, and expedite process will take between 1 - 2 weeks. I expedited mine, and received the passport is 5 business days. If you have at least 6 weeks to spare, go the regular route.
 
We applied for our son and received the passport in about 2 weeks.
So, at this time, expedited processing seems to be a waste of money unless you are in a real real rush
