How long does it take to get a SSN

Hi i just got my EAD card and i have applied for SSN the next day... I already have a job offer and they need SSN before i join... how long do u think it will take for my SSN ?

I'm H4. I got my card on the mail on 9/6 and the very next day applied for my SSN. They told me my data wasn't on their database yet so they made an inquiry. Until last friday 9/15 USCIS hadn't verified my case. I hope it doesn't take too long, wht do you guys think?
I've found in this forum it's better to wait at least 10 working days before applying otherwise the inquiry could take weeks and weeks............. I wish I had read that before applying............
