how long does it take to get a A#?

My lawyer sent in my paperwork to the chicago lock box April 12th when would I get the A#? Also the other question I have is can I take that A# and get a SS care and a divers licence with that??

You should get your I-485 receipt in the next week or 10 days. The receipt would have your A#.

No. You need to have your EAD in order to apply for a SSN. You can go to the SSA and ask them if it is possible, but im sure it will be a NO. Im not sure about DL as the laws vary by state. You may want to go to your DMV and ask them.

Being assinged an A-File number does not mean anything untill you get the Welcome to America notice :cool: Then it will be more than a set of numbers forsure. As Ari said you cannot apply for SS# or Most prolly not Drivers licence untill the EAD stage...
