Hello everyone ..
How long does GC approval generally take after EAD approval ... ? or is this one and the same thing, i.e. once you get EAD, you can sit back and relax ...? I'm trying to get a general time frame ..
This is for cases filed at NSC .. assuming no name checks, or other complications ...

There is no "generally", and the time frame is not linked to your EAD.

It can take from 2 months to 10 years, and depends heavily on your category and country and priority date.

Specify which country you are from (you can say ROW - rest of world - if you are not from India/China/Mexico/Phillipines), which preference category you filed under, when you filed the I-485, when you filed the I-140, and what is your priority date, and maybe we can give a guesstimate.

You have to understand the general rule - EAD may be approved if I-485 is pending. That's it. The fact that your EAD was approved doesn't change anything in your I-485 case. It also doesn't say, that your I-485 is to be approved. Even more than that, your I-485 may be denied, even if your EAD was approved.

Good ... you already cleared the I-140, which itself usually takes 6-12 months without premium processing. And with a PD in 2002, you actually have a chance of being current and approved this October when the visa numbers become available again.

But usually the I-485 takes at least 6 months for them to complete all the processing ... fingerprints, name check, etc. So I would say the end of this year or the first quarter of 2008 is a realistic time frame, assuming that you are neither very lucky nor unlucky. Of course, that all depends on what the visa bulletin says in October.

10 years?
ok I am row, eb3 pd: 01-27-04

Why not? In some FB categories it is 20 yrs.

Hopefully some relief will be forthcoming otherwise it looks pretty bad for EB India. Just look at this last year. Until we reached the last quarter and the overflows came into use, the priority dates were stuck in 2001-3 for EB India.

Since then many cases were cleared in this 485 approval rush, but many more with early PDs entered with BEC elimination applications and Labor Subs. which were expiring. So a fair guess would be the recent prediction of VB in bibdaily.
I suspect we will see movements from that date according to the visa demand. Since it will invariably be high for EB India, I suspect that we will not see too much movements until once again the last quarter of 2008.

Looks like at least another year to marinate in my cube ...
I'll get the salt and pepper to sprinkle on myself ... :)

jack please give me your opinion about mine
With an EB3 PD in 2004, you might have to wait a year or more to become current. But it's hard to project anything now without seeing the October bulletin. At least your I-140 is approved, so it won't be the thing that is holding you back.

hehehe at least i-140 is approved and I still have to wait one year! Got to love USCIS!
Thanks Jack

Techbuyer77,

There were many of us waited for more than an year in 485 stage itself. Mine was applied in 1st Dec 2004 and approved on 27th June 2007 :D

I applied for 3 EAD's and AP's and was ready for another set of it as well. It is true that the wait time for India in EB3 is more and you should consider yourself lucky, if yours get approved in an year's time.

Thanks

I know... I lost my first lc because the company closed. So I have been waiting 7 years... this is my 2nd try!!!! I know what you mean; so if i have to wait one more year it would be 8 1/2 years!!!!
I know India has a long time to wait....but stil 8 1/2 years is also long :D

Your clock starts only from the PD you got. That being said, your PD is 2004 and your wait time is only 3 years so far. :D

Thanks
