How Long can i stay in US

HI,

I got my Green card in june,2002 and i entered to US on august,2002. i got my plastic card on sep,2002.

Now my wife (secondary applicant) wants to go india for her sister marriage. can she travel to india or not , She wants to trave on jan,2003 that meens we are comlete 4 monts of stay in US.

I want to know how long we have to stay in US after getting green caard, if she goes to india how long she can stay in india? if any body come accross this situtaion ,please let me know.

Hello:

You can stay outside of US on a green-card for 1 year. But if you come back after six months, the Immigration officer at the port of entry can question you why you were outside of us for more than six months. if you have a valid reason, you should be fine.

if you go for marriage and come back within six months you are fine.

U meen to say , she can go and stay for 6 months ,even though we stayed in US for only 4 months.

can i call INS reg. this or not.
