how long before you can apply for citizenship?

hi,

I am on a green card. and I was approved December 2005. Now I know it is until 5 years to get citizenship. But I heard on this forum that the citizenship time can be restarted? does that mean waiting another 5 years? or you can just apply anytime after 5 years? I am from an asylee to a green card holder?

you can apply 90 days before your GC 5th anniversary. They are talking about a change but I have not seen any changes.

Generally the only thing that "restarts" the 5 year waiting period is if you break continuous residence. (No single absence from US longer than 6 months, and not more than 30 months outside US in a 60 month period.)

Other than that, you can apply 90 days prior to your 5yr GC issue date, and at any point from then on.
