How long before we get the Green Card after stamping

I was wondering how long it takes to get the Green Card in mail after stamping. Your experience will be highly appreciated.

Stamped in Last week of Dec. Still waiting to see the GC.
 
By reading other people's posts, it seems no definite answer. I was told 6 months when I went to stamping in Augest 2004, and I received in October 2004. I am in California.
