how long before USCIS sends a decision on I-130 after responding to an RFE

Can someone please advise as to how long does it usually take for the USCIS (Vermont Service Center to be precise) to get back on a pending I-130 after the petitioner has responded to an RFE.

I got an RFE on I-130 for which i responded in early Sept. Still waiting to hear back from VSC now. For one, I am not sure why was i sent an RFE as it didn't say i am missing any docs. Anyway, i filed my I-130 in Oct 2003 and I see a lot of cases have been approved around that date.

I will greatly appreciate any advice on this.
 
I am not sure, but I think when the USCIS website should show status change when your RFE response was received by them...but not sure.....what was the RFE about?
 
Can you tell me what REF is and also what was the date you filed your I130. The receipt date was October 14, 2003. He filed it in Vermont too. InshaAllah he will be hearing something soon too.

My RD is Oct 20 2003. I got an RFE in Aug 2005 . It was a one page blue color letter (both back and forth) but it did not say anything 'specific'. It looked like a very general letter which didn't say anything about any docs missing. All it said was that if I think i have not already submitted any of the following docs (and then it had a list of supporting docs for I-130), I should send them or else i can disregard this letter.. It was very confusing and i would say misleading too..

anyway, per my knowledege, i had submitted all the original docs so i just responded saying so.. Still waiting to hear back from them..
