How long before reentry permit

How long must one be in the USA before applying for reentry permit? My daughter will need to come back after activating visa to finish one year of university. Can she go with us, activate the green card and come back after a few days?

If she needs only one year, the better option might be to activate her visa very late and then return for the rest of the time. That woukld avoid the costs for a re-entry.
 
I understood that we have to travel all together and our visa activated on entry. Is this true or she can travel later?

No, the main applicant (winner) must enter the US first. After that, all others are free to enter the country whenever they like within the validation period of the visa.

1 second - in theory. The problem is, you need biometrics for the re-entry and it will take week before you get an appointment from USCIS. :mad:
 
Oh, sorry I think I did not understand it then. Does this mean that we dont have to go altogether? What about the sealed envelope? I read somewhere that the whole family is contained within the sealed envelope and that is the reason why we have to enter together. Howver from what Taz kindly pointed to it seems my daughter can come at a later date as long as it is within the 6 months validity of the visa?

What is then the meaning of the question about whether some members of the family will follow to join? Would that be to follow after the validity of the visa?

Don't mix the envelopes. You got one big envelope back from teh embassy which had the passport of very member from your family inside and a (so it looks at Frankfurt embassy) stapled envelope with a notched edge for everyone.

So if you and your wife want to go first just take both your passports and the two envelopes. Your daughter can follow later, as written within the 6 month validity of the visa (the expiration date is on the visa)
