Hi

How long is the interview date after you get your I-140 approval? I will be going to Chennai?

Just an estimate will be great.

Thanks

The time it takes for you to get the plastic card from your entry
date differes from POE to POE. But generally we are seeing
1 to 2 months.

Is it possible to break down the 6 months and explain why 6 is it months ? How dependant is the interview date on consulate, for example if we do CP interview in Toronto as against Chennai ?

Thanks in advance for your reply.

Browse the forum and you will get plenty of information. Another
source would be www.cptracker.com.

The basic milestones are as follows: ( for consulates in India)

a) NVC receives the file from INS.
b) NVC enters the case in the system.
c) NVC St.Louis sends out the fee bill.
d) You send the fee for Visa issue.
e) Your payment is encashed and NVC Portsmouth is intimated.
f) NVC Portsmouth sends out the Packet 3.
g) You send back the Packet 3
h) Packet 3 is reviewed
i) The case is sent to the respective consulate.
j) The consulate fixes the interview date and informs the candidate by sending the appointment letter.

For Canadian consulates the process is slightly different. Again
browse the forum. The 6 months is the minimum time it takes.

Hi Raju 595/others,

A question on NVC process:

Is there a way to track the developments at NVC ?...just like tracking I-140 staus on BCIS staus check web site. I would , for example like to know if my file has reached NVC and if a case # has been created and follow the developments from there. Is there a way to do all these ??

Appreciate if you could provide your inputs.

Thanks in advance,

Thanks in advance,

Once an individual's case reaches and enters the NVC system a unique id(13 character long) is generated which is something like this:

XXXYYYYNNNNNN

XXX: is the three character US consulate office id (For New Delhi=NWD, Chennai=MDR, Mumbai=BMB, etc.
YYYY: is usually the year an individual's case reaches NVC. ex. 2003
NNNNNN: Is the 6 character/numeric number for your case.

An individual will have to call the operator to get the NVC generated unique ID.

NVC Portsmouth, NH Telephone number (603) 334-0700

An individual can also track the case on the AVM (automated Voice Mail) using the I-140 approval ID (usually the SRC number).

For now, there is no web access for tracking NVC cases. May be future has something in store for prospective CPers.

Thanks.

What cpdelhi said above is correct.

Unlike 485, cp process has too many steps and the possibility
of tracking all of them means half of your mind will be on this
process for the next 6 months or so. Then comes the rush of
making the travel plans.
