How is RD determined?

Folks,

I am now desperately trying the meet the 9/30 deadline. My understanding is that the RD of my I-485 must be before or on 9/30, am I right?

So how is RD determined? Is it the date that they received the package or the date they open and log it? If I send it next Monday by overnight mail, do u think it is too late?

the mail only has to reach there by 9/30. it will be accepted. the RD will be much later, maybe oct, depending on when they open it.
