How is it better/faster?

After I get my citizenship I want to bring my fiancee over here. But, I don't know which solution is better. Should I apply for a fiancee visa? If yes, how long does it take until it is processed? Or should I marry in the country in which he resides and then apply for his visa?

Thanks

If his country allows DCF (Direct consular filing), you can get married and file I-130 and get GC in 3 or 4 months. If not, go with K1 or K3 (spouse) whichever is faster for his consulate abroad.

You get all info here

thanks for you reply, i will study that forum:))

or you can also check out the forum in www.imminfo.com. i get lot of information there. I was thinking to apply a K-visa for my gf but we ended up married and I filed the I-130 and the immigrant visa for her. The I-130 was approved within 5 business days after they collected all my documents. They sent her a packet 3 and we could have filled it 2-3 weeks back but we did not. however, we are going to send our packet 3 info then she should be getting an interview notice within 2 weeks along with the medial exam info..etc (she was told she would get an interview notice in 2 weeks after they recieved her packet 3)

ocworker, where did you file the petition? was it direct consular filling? or was it through a district office in US?

thanks

apparently, from what I learned so far reading on the internet, DCF is the fastest way to go. Good to know.

I believe so too. However, I believe timeline is various between different embassies.

lolypoapa,

Watch out though. FYI, not all consulates allow DCF, and some of them have restrictions about who can apply for DCF. That is, there may be rules in place about USC being a resident of the foreign country, where he or she is applying for DCF.

oc worker which country was ur gf living in,coz i know the rules are diff for diff countries...i am in the same boat..my girlfriend is in india and tired of having to meet her in canada ever other month where she comes through visitors visa....
some one needs to really adress the issue of gc holders applying for their wife...

in my case, DCF is perfect. I am going to be a dual citizen, first citizenship will be my country in which I was born and in which I will get married. DCF works perfectly, the wait time is about 2 weeks until he gets the visa. thanks for your input, it was a starting point.
