i have visited the site. I am lost about how to actually do it. Should i contact an attorney? or do it myslef.
I am interested in knowing how people have gone about it.

Do it yourselves. Its not very tough.

Print out the guide from http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/applications/skilled.html and that should help you a lot.
