How important is it to get the "Welcome Letter"

I keep seeing messages from people about the "Welcome letter". I never received one. I only got plastic card and thats it. Do we need to get this letter ? Or this is just a courtesy letter from INS ????

Please advise.

Probably not. You can put toilet paper to some use at least.

You don't need the welcome letter for anything. I never got one either.

If you have applied for AOS, "Welcome Letter" is the form I-797(Approval, Notice of Action). Its not required if you have received the GC.


BTW what was the mistake in the GC? My GC has only ; [Last Name], [First Name] [Middle Intitial], While my PP has full middle name. Is it OK?
