how far in advance can one apply for F1 visa. e.g. for September session, can one apply in Jan, feb of that same year. i.e. 6 months in advance. this will be at New Delhi US embassy.

You can apply 120 days in advance of your joining date on I20.

agree, one can apply within 120 days of the start date given in I-20. And also one can not enter US before 30 days of the start date in I-20.
