HOW does US Citizen bring Spouse and Children?

I'm a naturalized citizen, my spouse and minor child is residing outside USA, when I want to bring them to United States, how do I do that? Apply for a immigrant Visa or some other visa at US consulate in home country? Will they deny the immigrant visa as the intent will be clearly to immigrate to USA? How long it takes to get a visa to travel to USA?

The process starts with a couple of I-130's - one for your spouse and one for your child. After that, they follow either Consular Processing (CP) or K-3 spouse visa, although I'm not quite sure of the availability of a K-3 equivalent for your child. Theoretically K-3 is faster than CP, but in practice they often take about the same time, which means that CP is ultimately cheaper and faster than K-3 followed by I-485.
