How does my situation validate for a Temporary Work Visa?

I am inquiring into getting a Temporary Work Visa for the United States.

I am currently studying Actuarial Mathematics and Statistics at University. In my free time I do small jobs online developing websites and web applications, or just small scripts to help people out.

I have been offered a work placement with a web development firm in Florida. The company is pretty keen for me to go through to work with them having done work for them before over the internet.

However, as with most people working in web development, I am self-taught and thus have no official qualifications showing that I can do as the company wants me to whilst working over there. How might this affect my chances of getting the visa?

Also, I'm not 18 until February, how might this affect my chanes of gettings a visa?

I intend to be over there whilst out of University for the summer, so most of the time between the end of June and the end of September.

Any information you can provide would be most helpful. Thank you.
