How do I withdraw N-400 citizenship application

What's the best and safest way to withdraw a citizenship application? My friend's wife applied and wants to withdraw her application for now because of Indian citizenship conflict, and possibly apply after a couple of years.

Search the forum, there are a few threads on this.

I don't know what her issue is but there are no "Indian citizenship conflicts" and a ton of Indians have gone through the process and then gotten OCI/PIO with no trouble. If she plans to apply again later, now is also a good time for it and she should just finish the process imo. Of course it is up to her but things can change and one never knows what the future laws will be.

Although I have not tried it, I believe the safest way to withdraw an application would be:
1/ call the USCIS customer service to request an Infopass
2/ then schedule the Infopass
3/ at the District Office, remit in person a letter requesting withdrawal of the application (on plain paper, with mention of the applicant name and A# as well as case number)

The Officers at the DO would either be able to electronically withdraw the application based on the written request or would send the written request to the appropriate place at the Service Center.

P.S.: The applicant ideally should keep a copy of the withdrawal letter just in case the original gets lost.
