how do i get a job in the U.S?

hi everyone, i just moved here from Canada. to make a long story short, i was in a long distance relationship for 2 years with my American boyfriend and we decided that it was time i move to California so we could be together. now, i want to start working. what do i have to do so that i can legally work in the U.S and get a SS card and all that stuff? am i allowed to work here if i'm not a permanent resident? any advice is greatly appreciated....

If you are citizen of Canada you can get TN Visa, which you can get at Port of entry. Otherwise if you find some on to sponsor you can file for an H1B.
